Oh happy day when Johnin and Annat, friends since childhood, vowed to be together for the rest of their days!
Once again, thanks to Sharan Ranjit for his assistance.Photography2013 -
Many of those with us are here for one reason: nobody was willing to sacrifice for them. These were Mrs. Ebenezer Benjamin’s words to me as she shared about Ponnagam; a centre for the elderly which she runs in Rajapalyam, Tamil Nadu.
Birthed in 2006, Ponnagam Medical and Destitute Centre is a legacy of grace shared generously amongst the elderly residents and any visitors (animal or human!) who happen to journey through this unique community. The land upon which Ponnagam stands was a gift, given to Ebenezer’s family by her parents. The hope was that someday it would be used to extend the same care which her parents received in the weakness of their old age.
For those who now call Ponnagam home, their age and dependence were deemed a limitation, throwing them into the depths of “ungrace”.
At Ponnagam however, grace is found. You may not see it in close-ups of their wrinkled faces, or in the way that they hobble, cough, and sometimes argue with each other. It is experienced relationally, in the daily to and fro, where each person’s inherent value is celebrated. Grace that is intentional, life giving, and does not decay with time.

Haldi, Kashi Yatra, Gauri Puja, Mahurtham... you name it! Another big fat Kannadiga Wedding in Bangalore.
Thanks Sharan Ranjit for being an awesome second-shooter (once again!)Photography2013 -
Priyanka and Santosh got married on 18th March, 2013; hours of pure Kannadiga rituals, customs and fun!
Here's a little glimpse of that special day

Shooting for Adi and Apoorva felt like I was very much at home. I shot their engagement some months ago and so it was really nice to be able to recognise many of their family and friends and have them recognise me. I didn't feel like a stranger at all and feeling that way is, in my opinion, ideal for shooting an event as intimate as a wedding!
Thanks for your trust in me, Adi and Apoo! I had a blast (once again) shooting for you and I wish you joy in this new chapter of your life!
Sharan Ranjit was my second set of eyes at this wedding and I am grateful for him!Photojournalism2013 -
Alka found me through a search online. As the story goes, she'd seen some photos that I had taken at one of her friends' weddings. She contacted me, enquiring whether I was available to shoot her wedding and the rest, as they say, is history.
Both hoteliers working in different parts of the country, Alka and Chandra were only back in Bangalore a few days preceding their wedding. I like to make it a priority to meet my clients before I shoot for them so we carved out some time and met at Coffee Day on MG Road.
Drink orders were placed and then we launched into conversation, not realising that our drinks were no where to be seen a good part of the hour later! Actually, mine came pretty quickly but Alka and Chandra were waiting a LONG time. The time went pretty fast though! I grilled the two on the places that they've worked, and traveled. I was especially intrigued by the fact that the two met while working in Udaipur! Chandra in turn threw some photography-related questions at me and all in all, it was a pretty awesome coffee-date. I headed home feeling (once again) super grateful that the work that I do allows me to meet such awesome people.
And I also get the opportunity to document some special moments for these awesome people.
It's a pretty good deal, I'd say ;)
A BIG thank you to Sharan Ranjit for second-shooting for me!Photography, Photojournalism2013 -
Priyanka found my work through a mutual friend who, like her, is also a Virgina Tech alumnus (they are fondly known as 'Hokies' I am told.) We bonded over the fact that our name was the same (Yes, Priyanka is my not-so-undercover real name) and after figuring out the time difference between us, we finally managed to 'meet' over Skype and worked out a way for me to be there to shoot their wedding in Mumbai on the 5th of Jan, 2013.
What a wedding it was. I honestly had so. much. fun. The 'Mala Badal' part of every wedding is always always my favourite and always a challenge to capture. There are always loads of people crowding around and you have to get creative, (if you're short like me) climb things and make sure you balance yourself enough and not fall on anybody! Ha! Well, I managed somehow and I love love what resulted. You really had to be there to see how fun it was but I hope the images will bring you close enough.
A HUGE HUGE thank you to both Pri and Chi's families and friends. It was a pleasure being amongst you and THANK YOU for so enthusiastically using the Photobooth!
This one is for Jo, my BFF from college days in Mumbai. I gave Jo a crash course in changing lenses and the basics of taking photographs in Manual Mode before the wedding and she rocked my world. Changing lenses quickly is so much less stress-free when someone you trust is there to help you! She also pretty much took charge of setting up our Photobooth at the reception which was a HUGE support. As I keep saying, where would I be without you, girly?
Also, a huge shout-out to Kosh, the amazing amazing designers who created Pri's beautiful wedding saree!Photography, Photojournalism2013 -
Andy and Miriam were one of my first clients to book their Wedding with me in 2012. The wedding was only in December but by mid 2012, it was all confirmed - I was to be their wedding Photographer. As I had just started my business, words cannot describe how much that meant to me. It takes a lot of trust to choose a 'newbie' to shoot your Big Day. And so I was excited. So excited. And grateful.
It was an honour to be there and witness Andy and Miriam pledge their committment to each other.
Many thanks to Anu John David who was my second-shooter and very welcome companion on this shoot.Digital Photography2013 -
A simple outdoor wedding shot with George Seemon in Bangalore.
One of the funnest weddings I have ever been to! There was plenty of dancing and by the end of the night, once we were done photographically documenting the madness and the fun, even we got pulled in for a song or two!
Thanks to the couple for making us feel like one of them :)Photography, Photojournalism2012 -

On the 26th of August, 2012 I had the honour of photographing the Engagement Ceremony of Adithya and Apoorva in Chennai. It was very special for many reasons. Firstly, this was my first big solo assignment this year and I am so grateful to the couple for trusting me! Secondly, the event was brimming over with joy! Seriously, it was very palpable. The warmth was just radiating through the room. Thirdly, in the bargain of going to Chennai, I got to meet some very awesome people!Photography2012

As a person who always notices and analyses environmental issues in her head wherever she goes, I'm actually quite surprised that I didn't come away from Varanasi with complete hopelessness. The river is dead. Completely. There is absolutely no life in the Ganga flowing through Varanasi. All that is in the river is dead. Dead flowers, fruits, vegetables, plastic... even bodies (yes, very disturbing, but unfortunately true and sometimes visible). Sure it can still look beautiful, but it's a deceptive beauty.
And yet, something about the deadness of the river reinstated something that I strongly believe in. That even in the darkest places, from the absolute pits, redemption can happen. And though it makes me sad and even angry to see that we as humans have no respect for creation and conservation, Redemption will come. No matter how dark it gets, the Light is always brighter.
This is Benares, A Beautiful Mess.Photography, Photojournalism2012 -
On the way to Benares, my travel buddies and I had almost 5 hours transit time in the great city of Kolkata. While the guys stayed back and guarded the luggage, my friend Maya and I hopped into a cab and told the driver to take us to a nearby 'interesting place' and he took us to Dakhineshwar.
The Kali Mondir of Dakhineshwar was built on the river side of the Ganga around the middle of the 19th Century.
This is how I saw the place.Photography, Photojournalism2012 -
I learnt of this band about 6 years ago. Through random clicks on the internet, I landed up on their website. I clicked on the song 'Gaao Re' and tears streamed down my cheeks. The profound lyrics, the fusion of instruments and cultures... It was beautiful and to this day, they still have the ability to move me to tears. Watching them perform Live was literally a dream come true for me. It is really hard to put into words the kind of deep resounding joy that washed over me as I watched them perform on Saturday 17th November, 2012.
A day that will remain forever impressed upon my memory.

Did my first family shoot of sorts last weekend and I couldn't have asked for better subjects! Josephine, the boys' mother got in touch with me some months back after she found a picture that I had taken of her youngest at a wedding that we were both at. She asked if I would do the kids' portraits this year and of course, I jumped at the opportunity!Photography2012

In the latter half of 2011, I had the incredible privilege of assisting behind the scenes of a documentary film. The film, called Horse & Rider: A Journey Towards Freedom is the story of two girls who are former victims of sex trafficking.
On the sets I shot stills behind the scenes and acted as a Production Assistant and Translator.
Here are some shots from our time filming in Mumbai.Film, Photography2012 -
